Today I found myself on Stack Exchange not just trying to find a quick answer but browsing the questions on there. I was especially surprised by the number of Joomla related questions on Stack Overflow in the past week. I have checked before and only found a few posted over weeks. In the past week, there have been dozens.

In looking over the questions (and answering a few of them), I was reminded of Area 51 on the Stack Exchange system. This is where proposals can be submitted for new sites. The idea behind this process, as I understand it, is that Stack Exchange only wants to create sites that will have a strong base and actually answer the questions that are posted. (A great idea in my mind.)

I remember checking for a Joomla proposal in the past and found one with very little support. Today, I found that the Joomla proposal has started gaining ground, being just a few questions away from moving into the "commit" stage. I highly recommend popping over and following the proposal.

Why Joomla?

What is Joomla!?

Joomla! is the open source content management system that Webity specializes in working with. Unless the project specifically requires a different system, we build all of our websites and web systems on this framework, and will at least attempt to convince you to switch to it if you use anything else.

While most content management systems use the same basic building blocks--php, mysql, databases and javascript--we have chosen to use, almost exclusively, Joomla! for our projects for a variety of reasons that can all be summed up pretty simply: It's better for our customers.
